It is Gopher week over at Lake The Posts and he is fearful of the Jerry Kill hire.
When I heard the news that Jerry Kill was hired as the new head coach of Minnesota, I winced for a second. My knee-jerk reaction was "that’s a fantastic hire". Kill is the poster child coach for no frills, hard work, guaranteed results. His reputation as a program builder is well known within the coaching ranks and among his peers he is deeply respected for having a high football IQ. You get the sense Kill and Randy Walker would’ve been buddy-buddy at Big Ten get togethers. I truly believe Minnesota will get off the Big Ten floor in the next few years simply because Kill is a winner everywhere he goes.
He went to Northwestern so he is smart so he is probably right. Who am I to disagree.
- Speaking of Kill, he landed one of his best verbal commitments of the 2012 recruiting class. Isaac Hayes of St. Thomas Academy has committed to the Gophers over offers from Virginia Tech, Boise St, Oregon St, Air Force and several other mid-majors. He is potentially a DT or an OG, he doesn't care. He is a 3-star OG on Rivals and a 4-star OG on ESPN.
- Gopher baseballer Andy Henkemeyer is having a good season at the plate for the St. Cloud River Bats. His improved offense will be a valuable piece of the puzzle for the Gophers next season.
