Were you ready to ignore recruiting for the weekend so you could focus on hockey and conference title games? As Corso would say, not so fast my friend!

Earlier today, Gopher Twitter aficionados were left wondering what to make of this cryptic tweet...

Just want to send a special welcome to the two newest members of the Gopher Football Family! Ski-U-Mah!

It certainly appeared to refer to 2 verbal commitments. The first would clearly be Berkley Edwards. But who could the second be?

I was all ready to settle in for some MACtion, Gopher hockey, and bourbon when more good recruiting news broke across my Twitter feed...

GI is hearing that picked up another commitment this evening. Head to the Gopher Report for more.

GI has now confirmed that Lewisville (Texas) DE/OLB Hendrick Ekpe has committed to .

Excellent! Two recruits in 2 days! GopherNation can go into his weekend with a good mood.

Can't recall any details about Hendrick? Well, the first and most widely known is that he is the younger brother of current Gopher Scott Ekpe. Rivals has him as a 3 star. As I recall, he is a "Kill recruit", i.e. faster with room to grow and get stronger. And...yea, I'll be honest, as a wannabee recruitnik that's about all I can give you. He was #4 on GN's "wish list" for recruiting FWIW. I look forward to a Scroll of the Sworn to tell us more about the newest edition to this class.

Another good note from a S&C growth and defensive system perspective?

Big plus for latest verbal commitment, Hendrick Ekpe, is that he will graduate early and be at the U in January.

In any case, more positive momentum on the recruiting front (and a nice reminder that Kill's epilepsy is not an insurmountable barrier to his recruiting efforts). What do you all think?
