MINNEAPOLIS - The 14th-ranked Minnesota men's basketball team won its 20th consecutive non-conference game at Williams Arena, as it rolled to an 88-64 win against South Dakota State on Tuesday night.
Minnesota (9-1) built a 48-24 halftime lead behind the hot shooting of sophomore guard Andre Hollins, who made 6-of-7 three-pointers to end the half with 20 points. Hollins, who scored a career-high 41 points during a Nov. 23 win versus #17 Memphis, finished with a game-high 22 points for the Gophers.
Junior guard Austin Hollins added 17 points and a team-high five assists, while sophomore guard Joe Coleman finished with 15 points and seven rebounds. Senior forward Trevor Mbakwe came off the bench to lead all players with 10 boards to go along with eight points.
South Dakota State (6-3) was playing without its top scorer, Nate Wolters, who missed the game after injuring his ankle earlier this week. Wolters is averaging 20.8 points per game this season. The Jacks were led by 17 points and six rebounds from Jordan Dykstra.
The Gophers travel to Los Angeles this weekend for a matchup with USC. The game will be televised live on the PAC-12 Network, and can be heard live on the Gopher Radio Network. Tip is scheduled for 9:30 p.m. Central on Saturday night.
