Minnesota Football Recruiting: Jalen Myrick Officially Signs

How he fits

Myrick is a speedy corner with really good size and underrated tackling ability. He has the overall combination of speed, quickness and playmaking skills to fit into Claeys' quarters scheme at either the boundary CB spot depending on how much bulk he can add or at field CB. I personally think he's more cut out for boundary CB.

Chances to play in 2013

Very high. The Gophers bring back only four corners from 2012 and even if Derrick Wells moves down to boundary CB (as Claeys has implied several times in recent interviews), that's still not enough depth to make it through an entire season. Myrick's speed and background as a returner will also get him on special teams from the start.
