The inevitable occurred. After his recruitment started to skyrocket late off his performance in the Alabama-Mississippi High School All Star Classic, the chances of Jerry Kill and his staff holding on to Fairhope (AL) defensive back recruit Nate Andrews dropped percipitously.
So it should come as no surprise that after an official visit to Florida State last weekend, Andrews has flipped over to the Seminoles according to a report from AL.com's Ben Thomas:
"It's a good fit for Nate," Winegarden said. "For me, I just want what the players want, and I'm here to help them anyway I can. It's my role to be very supportive of all our kids.
"That being said, this is a great opportunity for Nate. It's close to home, he's got a good relationship with (FSU assistant) Jeremy Pruitt and he liked what he saw on his visit. I'm happy for him."
Andrews was one of the more highly regarded members of the Gophers' 2013, and it appears the staff does not have an imminent replacement for Nate at the CB position lined up.
The Gophers currently have 14 prospects committed for the 2013 recruiting cycle. National Signing Day is on February 6th.
