Freshman Tara Hobbs has been named the Big Ten Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week and Co-Freshman of the Week. She earned the honors by notching a pair of shutouts over the past week, as she blanked Ohio State in a 0-0 draw last Friday while doing the same to #7 Penn State in the Gophers' 1-0 win on Sunday. She made 7 saves in both games and is currently leading all B1G goalies in saves per game. Tara has 55 saves on the season. Her Defensive PotW honor is the first for Minnesota in almost a full year while her FotW is the first for the Gophers in nearly 2 years.
The Gopher win against Penn State was a big one and PSU's first loss of the season. Minnesota improved to 9-3-1 (2-2-1 B1G) on the year with the victory.
