The Big Ten announced the all conference Volleyball teams this morning and the three Gophers honored should come as no surprise. Seniors Tori Dixon (Middle Blocker) and Ashley Wittman (Outside Hitter) were selected for the All-B1G team while freshman Hannah Tapp (Middle Blocker) was selected for the All-Freshman team.
Dixon had a great senior season, leading the Gophers in Kills (414 - 3.63/set), Blocks (151 - 1.32/set), and Points (516.5 - 4.53/set). She was also among the B1G's best in all 3 categories, finishing 3rd in Blocks, 4th in Points, and 6th in Kills. Her outstanding performances did not go unnoticed during the season as she was named B1G Player of the Week once and Defensive Player of the Week four times.
Wittman also had a fine senior campaign where she lead the team in Digs (385 - 3.41/set) and was second on the team in Points (431.5 - 3.82/set) and Kills (380 - 3.36/set). The last number was good enough for 9th in the B1G for Kills per set. She was named B1G Player of the Week twice and Defensive Player of the Week once.
Tapp's first year with the Gophers was a productive one. She was right behind Tori for second on the team on blocks (141 - 1.31/set), a number that was also good for 5th in the conference. Her play earned her two B1G Freshman of the Week honors as well as one Defensive Player of the Week award.
Hats Off to Tori, Ashley, and Hannah!
