Final game at The Barn for a quartet of Gopher seniors.
Game Time: 2:00
TV: Big Ten Network
Trevor Mbakwe took the most interesting route to finally finish off his college career in a Gopher uniform. The 6th year senior has been a lot of fun to watch. His strength, athleticism and physical tenacity make him one of the best big-men in the conference. One of my all-time favorite Gophers to watch and he will be impossible to replace.
Rodney Williams has been equally as fun to watch but more for his freakish athleticism and leaping ability. A career highlight reel of incredible dunks and blocked shots would be several minutes long. He has grown in his leadership and is a match-up problem for Big Ten defenses.
Both of the above seniors will make their mark on the Gopher record books with games played, rebounding and FG% (more details at a later date).
Julian Welch has only been wearing maroon and gold for a couple seasons but has been a key contributor, mostly off the bench, for his two seasons.
Andre Ingram has grown, particularly in the Gopher's NIT run last season. He too has been a valuable member of the Gopher bench and the senior has a knack for taking big charges on the defensive end. Also a transfer, Ingram's Gopher career has been short.
Four seniors is a pretty big number in college basketball, their leadership and experience will be missed next season. Let's send this group out of The Barn with a big win over Penn State (translation: don't pull a Michigan this afternoon!). After today we have to watch these Gophers at other venues but hopefully we'll see several more wins.
