Thoughts...

  • As you know, with the 18-game B1G schedule there are 4 teams you play only once.  This year the Gophers will host Indiana and Illinois without having to make return trips.  And they will make one trip to Michigan State and Nebraska for the only meetings with those opponents.  It is a bummer we only get Nebraska and Illinois one time each but fortunate to only get Michigan State and Indiana once, so I guess the scheduling gods were neutral towards us this year.
  • Interesting that we almost bookend our season with games against Michigan.
  • My off the cuff predictions...4-4 in January, 5-3 in February and 1-1 in March for a 10-8 Big Ten record.  That might be a bit optimistic for a team reloading in the frontcourt but nothing horrifying jumps out with this schedule.
  • Lastly, it looks as thought Rakeem Buckles was denied his NCAA Waiver to be immediately eligible to play were he to transfer to Minnesota.  This is a blow to the frontcourt and now we just have to rely more heavily on others who need to step up.
