Zach Lofton Dismissed from Minnesota

Zach Lofton has been dismissed from the Minnesota basketball team effective immediately. He will remain at Minnesota for the academic year. Lofton was dismissed for failing to meet team obligations, though the specific obligations remain unspecified.

In a press release, Richard Pitino said “While decisions like this are always difficult, we felt it was in the interest of our program to move forward at this time. We wish Zach nothing but the best in the future.”

Lofton, a transfer from Illinois State, was slated to redshirt this year before being a major contributor next year. The Gophers will have one extra scholarship available for the 2016 class.
