Big Ten Players Of The Week Announced: Maxx Williams Not One Of Them

What's the deal Big Ten? It's not like anyone had a really big offensive performance in a Saturday night game while playing quarterback...

Jesse Johnson-USA TODAY Sports

The Big Ten has announced their players of the week and a certain XX named tight end with magical toes is not on the list:

Offensive Player and Freshman of the Week

J.T. Barrett, Ohio State
Fr., QB, Wichita Falls, Texas/Rider
• Accounted for 386 yards of total offense and five touchdowns to lead Ohio State to a win at Michigan State, the Buckeyes' Big Ten record 21st consecutive conference victory
• Completed 16 of 26 passes for 300 yards and three touchdowns
• Added 86 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 14 carries
• Wins his third Offensive Player of the Week and fifth Freshman of the Week award
• Last Ohio State Offensive Player of the Week: J.T. Barrett (Oct. 20, 2014)
• Last Ohio State Freshman of the Week: J.T. Barrett (Oct. 20, 2014)

Defensive Player of the Week

Vince Biegel, Wisconsin
So., LB, Wisconsin Rapids, Wis./Lincoln

• Registered seven tackles, four tackles for loss and three sacks to guide Wisconsin to a win over Purdue
• His four tackles for loss were the most by a Big Ten player in a game this season and his three sacks matched the conference high
• Led the way as the Badgers held a third consecutive opponent to less than 100 rushing yards
• Claims his first career Defensive Player of the Week honor
• Last Wisconsin Defensive Player of the Week: Chris Borland (Nov. 11, 2013)

Special Teams Player of the Week

Paul Griggs, Purdue
Jr., K, Charlotte, N.C./Charlotte Latin

• Converted all three of his field goal attempts against Wisconsin, including a pair of kicks from more than 50 yards
• Made field goals from 53, 52 and 40 yards
• Became the first player in school history to connect from 50 or more yards twice in the same game
• Earns his first career Special Teams Player of the Week honor
• Last Purdue Special Teams Player of the Week: Akeem Hunt (Sept. 9, 2013)

So, yea. It's kind of hard to argue with the OPoTW choice being Barrett with that stat line and significance of the game. Wait a minute, not it's not...

Seriously though, JT is a deserving selection. And the Gophers have Floyd. And Maxx still played an insane game. And nothing will take that away.
