3 Keys, 2 Players to Watch, 1 Prediction
Avoid Bad Turnovers - Ohio State is WAY too good to lose possessions to turnovers. The Gophers might be able to get away with one, but they'll need to be forcing turnovers themselves. So let's just avoid the TO's completely.
Field Position - Time for Peter Mortell to show the Ray Guy folks why they made a huge mistake this week. When the Gophers can't get points they need to pin the Buckeyes deep and force them to earn every yard.
Efficient Offense - If Mitch goes 10-13 again, I think the Gophers win. If the Cobb is able to keep a strong YPC average, the Gophers will win. They don't have to score every time they touch the ball but they do need to avoid 3 and outs, take time off the clock, and not leave Ohio State too many chances to blow the game open.
OPPOSING PLAYERS TO WATCH
- #16 - QB - J.T. Barrett - The freshman phenom. Find a way to make him uncomfortable and you have to feel pretty good about your chances. He can run and he can pass so...yea, that's easier said than done.
- #15 - RB - Ezeekiel Elliott - Barrett isn't the only weapon OSU has (understatement). If the Gophers do find a way to contain Barrett or if the weather impacts the passing game, look for OSU to turn to Elliott to step up.
- #37 - LB - Joshua Perry - The man in the defensive middle. He and David Cobb are probably going to get to know each other pretty well.
PREDICTION
I just saw snow on TV during Gameday. That's not enough for me to change my prediction to the win though.
Minnesota - 17
Ohio State - 24
