Minnesota Beats Georgia 66-62

Minnesota holds on despite a poor second half to beat Georgia

THE FACTS: Minnesota beat Georgia 66-62 at Madison Square Garden to finish 3rd in the NIT Season Tip Off. The Gophers built an early first half lead based on great ball movement and solid three point shooting before holding off a late Georgia comeback.

THE STAT: 45.5%. The Gophers were 10-22 from behind the 3point line and started 5 of 8 from behind the arc. Charles Buggs and Joey King provided the bulk of the makes. Buggs has developed into a dangerous player in catch and shoot situation.

TURNING POINT: Down two possessions with less than a minute remaining, Georgia missed a 3 pointer and was forced to foul. The Bulldogs never put up another shot. 

NOTABLE: Joey King played fantastically well tonight. He was a force on offensive finishing with 15 points, and added 2 rebounds, 2 assist, and drew at least 3 charges.

UP NEXT: Minnesota plays Wake Forest on December 2nd in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge.
