When Rachel Banham injured her knee during Wednesday's night game at North Dakota, everyone feared the worst. Unfortunately the U has officially confirmed those fears in a press release sent out this evening:
University of Minnesota head women’s basketball coach Marlene Stollings today announced that senior guard Rachel Banham will miss the remainder of the 2014-15 season after suffering a torn ACL in her right knee Wednesday night in the first half of the Gophers’ victory at North Dakota.
This is terrible news. Rachel was the preseason pick to be Big Ten Player of the Year and was a Naismith Award nominee who'd had a great season thus far. She was 5th in the Big Ten in scoring (59th nationally) and she was among the nation's leaders in 3 point field goals per game. The team will miss her contributions and leadership, but I'm most saddened for Rachel since she's a senior and this might be it for her as a Gopher. Per Amelia, there has been no word yet on whether a medical redshirt is a possibility for Banham.
Sad to hear that Rachel Banham has torn her ACL and will miss the rest of the season. No news of whether medical redshirt is possible yet.

We at TDG wish Rachel a swift and successful recovery and hope that a medical redshirt opportunity presents itself so all Gopher fans can enjoy watching her play again next season!
