Maxx is ALL-AMERICAN! Today the Associated Press named their All-American team and unlike ESPN, this list includes tight ends; our very own Maxx (xxxxx) Williams was named 2nd Team!

This was just the latest All-American award for Maxx this year; previously he was named to the Walter Camp & CBS Sports All-American second teams and the Athlon Sports All-American third team. Maxx was also named to the Capital One Academic All-American team earlier. In 2014 Maxx Williams, a red shirt Sophomore, leads the Gophers with 29 receptions for 471 yards and 7 touchdowns. This puts him as first all-time in Gopher history for touchdowns by a tight end in a single season and fifth for receiving yards in a season by a tight end, with a bowl game yet to play.

Besides All-American honors, Maxx has received numerous other awards including All-Big Ten honors and was second in the John Mackey award voting. Great job Maxx! We all look forward to your performance in the Bowl game and for next season.

As for the rest of the Big Ten, a total of 4 players made the first team,  3 players (including Maxx) made the second team, and 7 players made the third team. See below for the full list of AP All-Americans (Big Ten in BOLD):
