THE FACTS: Minnesota beat Wake Forest 84-69 at Wake Forest. The Gophers improve to 5-2 on the season, and the Big 10 gets another win in the ACC/BIG Challenge. Andre Hollins and Joey King led the way for Minnesota on offense. Hollins had 27 points on 8-14 shooting (7-10 from three), 7 rebounds, and one steal. King finished with 14 points (4-6 from three) and added 4 rebounds and 2 assists.
THE STAT: 37. The total turnovers in the game. Despite a game that turned into a laugher, the Gophers were exceedingly careless with the ball. Minnesota committed 19 turnovers, and many of them were unforced. A better team would have capitalized, but Wake Forest seemed determined to match poor decision-making with worse decision-making.
TURNING POINT: With 8:51 to play in the second half, Wake Forest's Devin Thomas was called for a technical foul. Andre Hollins made two foul shots and then hit a three on the ensuing possession. Wake Forest never returned the game to striking distance.
NOTABLE: Andre Hollins came to play in the second half. The senior had seven 3s just one short of the record by a Minnesota player in a single game. Five of them were in the second half.
UP NEXT: Minnesota plays Western Carolina on Friday December 5th at the Barn.
