The Facts
After starting the past few games slowly, Minnesota burst out to a quick lead en route to a 92-56 win. Mo Walker was nigh unguardable on the low block, and Deandre Mathieu went full Honey Gopher. Minnesota improved to 7-2 on the season.
Walker finished with 22 points on 9-11 shooting, with 7 rebounds, and 3 blocks. If I had one complaint about this game, it's that Walker did not get a touch on the low block every single possession. He bullied every defender that North Dakota put out on him, and used a variety of nice baby hooks and spins.
Mathieu was near perfect at the point guard position, and finished with a double double He had 15 points, 10 assists, 2 steals, and zero turnovers.
The Stat
6. The number of Gophers in double figures. Despite Mo Walker's strong game, Minnesota did a good job moving the ball around and getting multiple scorers involved. The Gophers had 25 assists on the night to 12 turnovers.
The Turning Point
Opening tip off. Honestly, this game was never going to be close.
