The NCAA announced the qualifiers and seeds for the 2014 NCAA Wresting Championships to be held next weekend, March 20-22 in Oklahoma City. The Gophers had nine wrestlers qualify for the NCAA Championships. The Gophers have one wrestler in each weight class except 125 pounds, where the Gophers did not qualify.

The list of Gopher wrestlers who qualified and their seeds and season records are as follows:

133 Pounds: #8 Seed David Thorn 24-6

141 Pounds: #6 Seed Chris Dardanes 25-6

149 Pounds: #2 Seed Nick Dardanes 32-3

157 Pounds: #9 Seed Dylan Ness 19-5

165 Pounds: #15 Seed Daniel Zilverberg 19-13

174 Pounds #6 Seed Logan Storley 30-5

184 Pounds #7 Seed Kevin Steinhaus 21-6

197 Pounds #4 Seed Scott Schiller 29-4

Heavyweight #1 Tony Nelson 26-4

The Gophers are led by Nelson, a senior who just won his third consecutive Big Ten Heavyweight Championship last weekend in Madison. Nelson, a two-time defending National Champion will attempt to be the Gopher's first three time NCAA Champion. Nelson will see plenty of familiar foes, as six of the top seven seeds are from the Big Ten.

The Gophers as a team will try to at least equal, if not beat last year's third place finish in the NCAA Tournament. It will be tough for the Gophers who just finished in third place in the Big Ten Tournament behind rivals Penn State and Iowa. Both the Nittany Lions and Hawkeyes will also be looking for a team NCAA Championship next weekend as well.
