Few weekend recap nugs to keep you occupied on this Pre-Frozen Four Monday.  I think there's a basketball game on tonight or something too...

Gopher Hockey:

Jason Gonzalez had a great story in the Star Tribune on Kyle Rau as the Gophers prepare for the Frozen Four.

Tim Leighton counters from the Pioneer Press with an article on the historic rivalry between Minnesota and North Dakota with some comments from hockey alums from both schools.

Dark516Knight has his first of several Frozen Four team previews up as he looks at the Union Dutchmen today.

Gopher Football:

The Gophers had their most extensive scrimmage of the spring practice season on Saturday indoors.  Joe Christensen was there and recaps the action on his online Star Tribune Blog. Sounds like the Defense was impressive, and we are going to have quite the running back depth this fall.

Gopher Women's Basketball:

Villa 7 lives!  It is looking more and more likely that Marlene Stollings who is the current VCU women's basketball coach will be named Pam Borton's replacement as coach of the Gophers. Stollings has only been at VCU for two seasons but has been an assistant at many schools including Mississippi.  Stollings is known for her recruiting prowess, and took VCU from 11-19 in 2012-13 to 22-10 in 2013-14.

***EDIT: Stollings officially hired--Story Here!

Gopher Baseball:

The Gophers took two out of three games from Michigan in Ann Arbor.  Sunday's 3-1 victory brought the Gophers back above .500 at 5-4 in the Big Ten.

The Gophers have a game at South Dakota St on Wednesday and will be home for a weekend three-game series against Nebraska Friday-Sunday.  Friday's game is at 3:05, while the two weekend games start at 2:05.

Gopher Softball:

The #14 Gopher softball team had a three-game series at home against Wisconsin turned into a double-header on Sunday due to field conditions.  The Gophers split the doubleheader losing 2-1 in the first game, and coming back to win 3-0 in the second.

The Gophers have a doublehader Tuesday at Iowa at 3:00 that will be broadcast on BTN.  They then have a three-game series at home this weekend against #23 Northwestern.  Friday's game starts at 6:00, with Saturday and Sunday starting at 1:00.

Gopher Gymnastics:

The #14 Gopher women's Gymnastics team placed third in the regional they hosted this past weekend at the Sports Pavillion. The team did not qualify for the Championship meet.  However, individuals Lindsay Mable qualified for the All-Around, and Hanna Nordquist qualified to complete on the balance beam.

The #7 Ranked Men's Gymnastics team will compete in the NCAA Championship Meet this weekend in Ann Arbor.

Gopher Track and Field

Gopher pole vaulter Zach Siegmeier who is the defending Indoor and Outdoor Big Ten Champion in the event, won his second consecutive meet at Stanford last weekend with a vault of 5.11 meters.

Enjoy the basketball game tonight as it will be quite hockey centric around here starting tomorrow through the rest of the week...
