The intrepid TDG eam has learned that kickoff for the Minnesota Golden Gophers vs. Middle Tennessee Whatsits has been scheduled for 2:30 PM local time in Minneapolis. With any luck, the Bank will be showered in golden September sunlight to match the accent the color on the home team's uniform. Also, I would prefer that the temperature not top 100 degrees like last year's season opener (for the sake of those around me).
In case you're wondering how we should be so fortunate to not be forced into an 11 AM start time against this, our most hated common non-con adversary, here is the list of other non-cons that Big Ten teams scheduled for this same day. Needless to say, this kick time is probably not a nod by the conference proving that Minnesota has ascended from mediocrity to something above mediocrity. It's more likely that this afternoon game was awarded because we shouldn't get used to having nice things, but they'll throw us a bone occasionally.
I can't speak for you, nor would I try to, but I know that I'm much more excited for this game now, and you are too. The pre-game almost as important as the real game, and I'm looking forward to lunch at a tailgate rather than breakfast.
