Over the last 3 days the Gophers Soccer team played their first two games of the season, both in Florida. They crushed Stetson University's Hatters of the Atlantic Sun Conference 10-0 to start the season on Friday night, scoring 5 goals in each half. Today they took on the #2 ranked Florida State from the ACC and after a weather delay during the second half, they fell 4-1 to the Seminoles in a valiant effort.

The Gopher Soccer teams hash tag for this season is #GIVEEVERYTHING and they certainly did on Friday night with the 10-0 win over Stetson. The Gophers didn't waste any time when a shot by #4 Olivia Schutlz (SR / Fwd) put the Gophers up 1-0 in the 1st minute of play. Perhaps the most impressive outing was by #2 Simone Kolander (SO / Fwd\Mid) who had two goals (on 4 shots) and 4 assists. Three Gophers scored in their debut game as Gophers, they were:

The Gophers left everything on the pitch but in the end proved no match for the #2 Seminoles, falling 4-1. The weather in Tallahassee, FL was certainly a factor, requiring mandatory water breaks at the 25 minute and 74 minute plus a long weather delay during the second half. The Gophers played a terrific first half, only letting in one score (#19 Williams at 33') and scoring one of their own. The Gophers score was by #18 Ashley Pafko (SO / Def) on another assist by #2 Simone Kolander (SO / Fwd\Mid). 2013 B1G Goalkeeper of the year #00 Tarah Hobbs (SO / GK) performed well the entire game but faced the a storm of offensive talent from FSU eventually giving up 3 more goals (#21 Bakowska-Mathews @ 47', #13 Grubka @67', and #7 Brynjarsdottir @74') but had 10 saves on the day.
