Per an article in the Star Tribune by Jason Gonzalez, Gopher's Women's Gymnastic Coach Meg Stephenson has resigned from the University of Minnesota in what the U is calling a "mutually agreed-upon" decision. Earlier complaints against Coach Stephenson from students and employees led to two investigations and ultimately this decision.
A news release has not yet been posted on Gophersports.com but her name has been removed from the roster.
Per the Star Tribune article, the Gophers had a good deal of success during her tender including making it to at least the NCAA regional s every year since 1997. In 2013 Stephenson was named NCAA Regional, National, and B1G Ten Coach of the year; the later honor she also received in 2014.
The Gophers Gymnastic team has its Intersquad match on January 4th, 2015 and its first match (home) against the US Air Force Acadamy and Lindenwood on January 11th, 2015. The Gophers finished 2013 with a share of the inaugural B1G Ten regular season title.
