High on links, low on commentary today....cause I'm hungry.

Gopher Football:

Joe Christenson at the Star Tribune gives us two few links today.  This one is on the improving wide receiver corps.

This one is on the backup QB options and other freshmen.

Sid chimes in with some good quotes from Tracy Claeys on the improving defense.

Marcus Fuller at the Pioneer Press also talks about the backup QB situation. No Minions needed....yet

This tweet, and similar ones from Joe and Marcus are a good sign for the interior of the Gophers defensive line:

Speaking of Tweets, with the news that the Kevin Love trade to Cleveland for Andrew Wiggins and others is done, Peter Mortell tweeted this out this morning:

Gopher Football gives the Practice roundup from Yesterday.

They also added two tweets, one interesting, and one critically important:

ITS BACK!!!!!

Good Chicago Tribune Article about Brock Vereen and his time with the Bears

Ryan Burns from Gopher Illustrated tweets on some recruiting ranking news:

Interesting ESPN.com article on the Power 5 coaches and future scheduling

The AP reports the Power 5 legislation has passed...more on that later I'm sure.

Finally in football, an interesting article from the Star Tribune on how the University of Minnesota wil lwork with the Vikings to attempt to keep the word "Redskins" out of TCF Bank Stadium when Washington plays at the Vikings in November. Please keep comments on this article PC.  I'm sure you will also see more on this later.

Gopher Basketball:

Amelia Rayno from the Star Tribune has a few blogs posts.  This one is on Joey King and his summer improvements.

This one is about Strength and Conditioning Coach Shaun Brown.

Gopher Women's Coach Marlene Stollings threw out the first pitch at the Twins game yesterday:

Gopher Hockey:

Gophersports.com is doing a top ten Gopher Hockey Plays of the Year countdown.  They are to #8 on the list which is Nate Condon's 100th Career Point in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Guessing #1 won;t be very anti-climatic this year...

Six Gopher Women's Hockey players will be going to the USA Hockey Women's National Festival next week in Lake Placid, NY. The festival will cut down the 69 players invited to 22 who will play in a series against Canada a week later in Calgary. There will be two teams an Under-18 and an Under-22. The roster here also includes four Gopher commits for future seasons that GopherSports can't discuss. They are Alex Gulstene, Patricia Marshall, Sophie Skarzynski and Alex Woken.

Finally, Nate Wells over at SB Nation College Hockey has a fun post about what a College Hockey hate map would look like. Good News? Its not all-Minnesota hate.  Bad news.  A LOT of people hate us...
