Gopher Football: Gophers in the NFL Update Week 2!

We got a little more action....

Brock Vereen got his first two NFL tackles last Sunday
Brock Vereen got his first two NFL tackles last Sunday
Jeff Gross

Here is how the former Gophers on NFL rosters did in Week 2!

Eric Decker- Wide Receiver New York Jets

Week 2 Opponent: Green Bay Packers

Decker caught four passes for 63 yards and a touchdown in the Jets 31-24 loss to the Packers.  The Jets went up 14-0 early on a 29 yard touchdown by Decker, but the could not hang on. Decker also injured his hamstring in the third quarter and did not return to the game.

Week 3 Opponent: Chicago Bears

Decker and the Jets will host the Bears on Monday Night Football. Maybe see Brock vs Decker if Decker is healthy enough to play.

Marqueis Gray- Tight End Minnesota Vikings

Week 2 Opponent: New England Patriots

Gray saw some playing time in the second half of the Vikings 30-7 loss to New England.  He did not see any passes thrown his way.

Week 3 Opponent: New Orleans Saints

The Vikings visit the Superdome and the 0-2 and pissed off. New Orleans Saints.  Yeah...this could be interesting.

Ra'Shede Hageman- Defensive Tackle Atlanta Falcons

Week 3 Opponent: Cincinnati Bengals

Hageman recorded his first two NFL tackles including one solo tackle in front of GoAUpher and the rest of the Cincinnati Bengals fans.  Unfortunately his team lost the game 24-10 to the Bengals.

Week 3 Opponent: Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Falcons have a short week hosting Tampa Bay on Thursday Night Football.  Hopefully a shorter week will mean more action for Sheede.

Marcus Sherels- Cornerback/ Punt Returner Minnesota Vikings

Week 2 Opponent: New England Patriots

Sherels was limited by the Patriots success on offense, and their punters booming leg.  Sherels had one punt return for  11 yards.  He played some on defense late in the game but did not record any statistics

Week 2 Opponent: New Orleans Saints

Sherels will hopefully see more action if the Vikings defense can slow down Drew Brees and the Saints offense.

Matt Spaeth- Tight End Pittsburgh Steelers

Week 2 Opponent: Baltimore Ravens

Spaeth played in the Steelers 26-6 Thursday night loss to Baltimore.  He did not record any stats.

Week 3 Opponent: Carolina Panthers

The Steelers will get another prime time game as they go to Carolina to play the Panthers on Sunday Night Football.

Brock Vereen- Safety Chicago Bears

Week 2 Opponent: San Francisco 49ers

Brock played on special teams and got his first NFL tackle on a kick return in the 2nf half of the Bears come from behind 28-20 win over the 49ers.  Vereen also got another tackle playing safety in the 4th quarter as well.  Vereen played extensively in the Bears nickle package in the 4th quarter.

Week 3 Opponent: New York Jets

The Bears go to the Meadowlands to play the Jets on Monday Night Football.  If Eric Decker is healthy enough, could we see Brock covering Decker??

Tramaine Brock- Cornerback San Francisco 49ers

Week 2 Opponent: Chicago Bears

Brock was inactive for the game against the Bears after suffering a turf-toe injury in Week 1.

Week 3 Opponent: Arizona Cardinals

The 49ers go to the Valley of the Sun to play the 2-0 Arizona Cardinals.  The 49ers could use Brock back on the field after Brandon Marshall torched the 49ers last Sunday.

Check back next Tuesday to see how our  former Gophers did in Week 3!
