Big Ten Football Power Poll: Week 4

Well...that was a little better

Mark Konezny-USA TODAY Sports

As a member of the "working media" we get requests to help out other "media" in their articles and pursuits.  Then sometimes we get to steal their ideas and content for our own gain.  Thus, we bring you the Big Ten Power Poll!

I am a voting member in two power polls this season on other websites.  If you want to compare my votes to other "writers" from around the Big Ten, I'm sure they would love a click as well.  Check out the Rutgers Blog www.SalSoothsayer and another blog covering the whole conference, www.talking10.com.

Here is the poll after week 4:

Big Ten East

1. Michigan State

Eastern Michigan meet bottom of shoe.

2. Ohio State

They got a bye, but not idle enough to lose their spot.

3. Penn State

The Nittany Lions won big over UMass.  Not easy enough to leap OSU though.

4. Maryland

Nice win for the Terps over Syracuse.  Shouldn't have been enough to jump this far but...

5.Rutgers

The Scarlet Knights got a good win over Navy.  A little more convincing and you might have got higher.  Now missing your star running back for the season?  Enjoy your high water mark Rutgers...

6. Michigan

Woof. Nothing else needed

7. Indiana

Big win over Missouri.  Not sure now looking how I didn't jump them over Michigan too.  Probably should have.

Big Ten West

1. Wisconsin

Melivin Gordon looked like he was going to struggle after his first carry.  Whoops...

2. Nebraska

Big win over Miami.  Almost jumped them above WI, but just couldn't yet.

3. Minnesota

At least they won.  Wasn't pretty, but it was a W.

4. Iowa

Again, probably shouldn't have flopped MN and IA, but did.  Until someone really proves something, they wil lkeep flopping around here.

5.Northwestern

You won a game you should have.  Good job Northwestern

6.Illinois

How in the hell do you almost lose at home to Texas State?  Probably should have dropped you to last.

7.Purdue

That's 2 wins Purdue!  Will you get any more??

Overall

In case you are a pre-divisions purist, and want to see how teams stack up overall, here is my overall Top 14:

1. Michigan State  NC

2. Ohio State        NC

3. Wisconsin      NC

4. Nebraska     +1

5. Penn State   -1

6. Maryland        +4

7. Rutgers         NC

8. Minnesota     +1

9. Iowa                -1

10. Michigan       -4

11. Indiana        +2

12. Northwestern-1

13. Illinois         -1

14. Purdue        NC

So a bit of flopping.  Michigan dropping like an anchor.  Maybe the Gophers can make them drop even further this week?

Arguments?  Likes?  Dislikes?  Think I am an idiot?  Tell me in the comments!
