We start with the Football nugs:
Marcus Fuller of the Pioneer Press has some tout videos of Gopher players and coaches talking about this Saturdays game. Here's Tommy Olson:

Olson this morning was named a semi-finalist for the National Football Foundation's Campbell Award. The Award is the most prestigious and desirable academic award in College Football. The criteria are as follows:
A senior or graduate student in their final year of eligibility;
* Have a grade point average of at least 3.2 on a 4.0 scale;
* Have outstanding football ability as a first team player; and
* Have demonstrated strong leadership and citizenship.
Congrats Tommy! Finalists will be named in October and the winner will be announced at a banquet in December.
Fuller also had an interview with QB Coach Jim Zebrowski

Marcus also has a blog post on how Zebrowski will be staying on the sidelines and working with his young quarterbacks rather than watch from the booth.
Joe Christensen from the Star Tribune has an article on the increased emergence of Damien Wilson as the best linebacker the Gophers have had in a very long time.
Christensen also has an article on how Coach Kill is cautiously optimistic that Mitch Leidner will be able to play some on Saturday. More importantly, it appears Maxx Williams will be able to play, at least in a limited role.
The Star Tribune had a letter to the editor on Wednesday espousing the virtues of Coach Kill by former Gopher All-American linebacker Bob Stein.
Chip Scoggins also had a blog post up on the Gophers.
In recruiting news, 4-starr quarterback from East Ridge High School, Seth Green tweeted out this morning that he has cut his potential school list to three, Minnesota, Oregon and Michigan State. He announced he will be making a decision on October 17th. It would be one hell of a Homecoming weekend if he would pick the Gophers.

Now to the ice..
As you should well know by now, yesterday was Big Ten Media Day for the Gopher Hockey Team. DarkNight had you well covered with Don Lucia's press conference notes and video of Lucia and Captain Kyle Rau discussing the upcoming season.
Jason Gonzalez was there as well and had this report.
The most important thing to come out of Gonzalez's article above is that Gopher freshman forward Leon Bristedt will miss the first month of the season due to an NCAA snafu with his junior team in Sweden. While the Gophers probably won't miss him in the first few weeks of the season, it would have been nice for him to get involved in the offense before the tougher non-conference games i November, and the start of the Big Ten season in December come about. He will have a lot of catching up to do to make the impact that many thought he might have as a freshman.
Other Sports...
The Gopher Volleyball team won their first Big Ten Match of the year defeating Ohio State 3-2. They get to take on perennial powerhouse and National Semi-finalist last year Penn State on Saturday. Norsk_Gopher will have much more on that match-up on Monday.
Enjoy the rest of your day!
