Gopher Football: Gophers in the NFL Update Week 4!

Thank heavens for Eric Decker....

Marcus Sherels had a decent day last Sunday

Here is how the former Gophers on NFL rosters did in Week 3!

Eric Decker- Wide Receiver New York Jets

Week 4 Opponent: Detroit Lions

Decker played on his injured hamstring and had four catches for 48 yards and a touchdown in a 24-17 loss to the Lions.  Decker was targeted a whopping ten times.

Week 5 Opponent: San Diego Chargers

The Jets travel across the country to San Diego and a tilt with the Chargers.

Marqueis Gray- Tight End Minnesota Vikings

Week 4 Opponent: Atlanta Falcons

Gray was on the field quite a bit for the Vikings, but was only truly noticeable when he drew a false start penalty.  He did have one tackle on special teams.  With the Vikings bringing in Chase Ford off the practice squad as a pass catching tight end, Gray's action may be more limited.

Week 5 Opponent: Green Bay Packers

The Vikings will go to Green Bay on a short week to play the Packers on Thursday night.  Hopefully Gray will finally catch a pass this week.

Ra'Shede Hageman- Defensive Tackle Atlanta Falcons

Week 4 Opponent: Minnesota Vikings

Hageman did not record any stats in the Falcons loss to the Vikings, and played only 14 snaps.  We did get this picture though:

Week 5 Opponent: New York Giants

The Falcons will head up to the Meadowlands to play the Giants this Sunday.

Marcus Sherels- Cornerback/ Punt Returner Minnesota Vikings

Week 4 Opponent: Atlanta Falcons

Sherels returned two punts for 39 yards including one 23 yarder.

Week 5 Opponent: Green Bay Packers

Sherels will get a chance to return more punts if the Vikings defense can contain Aaron Rogers and the Packers offense.

Matt Spaeth- Tight End Pittsburgh Steelers

Week 4 Opponent: Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Steelers lost in Masonlike fashion to Tampa 27-24 on Sunday and Spaeth did not record any statistics.

Week 5 Opponent: Jacksonville Jaguars

Spaeth will hopefully get more action in a potential blowout of the Jags.  Of course I said that last week too...

Brock Vereen- Safety Chicago Bears

Week 4 Opponent: Green Bay Packers

With several Bears secondary members returning from injury, Vereen's playing time dropped this week and he did not record any statistics.

Week 5 Opponent: Carolina Panthers

The Nears head down to Carolina to try and regain their winning ways.

Tramaine Brock- Cornerback San Francisco 49ers

Week 4 Opponent: Philadelphia Eagles

Brock was inactive for his third consecutive game  still suffering from a turf toe injury from Week 1.

Week 5 Opponent: Kansas City Chiefs

The 49ers play the Chiefs and maybe Brock will be back healthy

Check back next Tuesday to see how our  former Gophers did in Week 5.
