Golden Nugs 9/4/14 Nugs Sandwich for Lunch?

Here are some lunchtime Nugs for your eating...I mean reading enjoyment.

Brad Rempel-USA TODAY Sports

Lets start with a run around the Gopher Football world:

Joe Christensen with the Star Tribune has a great feature piece on the Gophers new starting defensive tackle, Steven Richardson.

He also has a preview video with his takes on Middle Tennessee State, and Mitch Leidner.

He also put out this tweet during Kill's weekly radio show:

Marcus Fuller with the Pioneer Press also has an article on Richardson.  Its obvious that we will be expected to step in and fill a huge role on the D-line with the loss of Scott Epke for the season.

He also writes about Mitch Leidner, and how is arm needs to be his best part, not his legs.

He also had these tweets coming from Kill's radio show:

He also had this tout video from Kill speaking about Ryan Santoso

Tom Powers writes about the other starting defensive tackle, Cameron Botticelli.

Tyler Mason has a mailbag on Fox Sports North.com all about the Gophers. Man, FSN has some debbie downers asking questions.

Next to Basketball:

Amelia Rayno of the Star Tribune has the scoop on whats going on with the Preseason NIT tournament.  The Final four teams have already been slotted into NYC, and the Gophers will play St. Johns in one semi-final while Georgia and Gonzaga play in the other.  The Gophers will also get one home game in the tournament, but will advance to NYC no matter the end result.

Amelia also has an article on Richard Pitino how how surprised he was at the complications of attempting to get recruit Gaston Diedhiou into the U.

The new Rivals 150 rankings for the Class of 2016 are out, and two Minnesotans and Gopher targets, Amir Coffey and Micheal Hurt are ranked #45 and #146 respectively.

And Now Hockey:

Nick Seeler, a defenseman from Eden Prairie who played the last two seasons for Nebraska-Omaha is transferring to Minnesota.  Seeler is a 6'2 192 pound defeneman who is a 5th round draft pick of the Minnesota Wild in 2011.  He will be required to sit out the 2014-15 season but will be able to practice with the team.  His veteran presence will be great next season after the Gophers will lose Ben Marshall to graduation, and almost assuredly will lose Brady Skeji and Mike Reilly to the professional ranks.

Chris Dilks at SBN College Hockey previewed 10 Freshmen to watch in the Big Ten this upcoming season.  Three Gophers, Leon Bristedt, Steve Johnson and Jack Glover are on his list.

Finally some other random links:

This Saturday will be the last Notre Dame/ Michigan Football game for a while.  Well now the Irish are trolling the Wolverines as it was announced that Notre Dame and Ohio State have agreed to a two game series in 2022 and 2023.

The Minnesota State Fair broke its all-time attendance records this year with over 1.8 Million people going to the fair.

As much as we like making fun of Wisconsin as a bunch of fat people...but they got nothing on the South.

Enjoy your afternoon!!
