Minnesota Football: Shannon Brooks named Big Ten Freshman of the Week for Week 6

HATS OFF to Shannon!

Jesse Johnson-USA TODAY Sports

Shannon Brooks had an incredible day on Saturday. His 17 carries for 176 yards (10.4 ypc) and 1 TD were one of the best freshman running performances in Minnesota history! His 176 yards was also the best freshman rushing performance since 2003. Shannon's powerful runs and explosive stiff arm created highlights that couldn't be ignored:

The folks in the Big Ten offices noticed, because Shannon was jumped named co-Big Ten Freshman of the week with Michigan's Jabril Peppers!

The award is the first of what we all hope will be many conference awards for the Gopher freshman. It's also the first B1G Frosh of the Week award for a Minnesota player since Chris Streveler earned one against San Jose State last season.

HATS OFF TO SHANNON!
