As a member of the "working media" we get requests to help out other "media" in their articles and pursuits. Then sometimes we get to steal their ideas and content for our own gain. Thus, we bring you the Big Ten Power Poll!
I am a voting member in two power polls this season on other websites. If you want to compare my votes to other "writers" from around the Big Ten, I'm sure they would love a click as well. Check out the Rutgers Blog www.SalSoothsayer and another blog covering the whole conference, www.talking10.com With out any further delay, I bring you the Week 10 Version, of the Big Ten Power Poll.
Big Ten East
1. Michigan State (Previously #3)
Sparty Whoa! Connor Cook who? A massive win for MSU that puts them back into controlling their own destiny for a shot at a National Title. They host Penn State for the "Pew-Pew" Trophy this week....hopefully no letdowns.
2. Ohio State (Previously #1)
The Buckeyes lose, and there is discontent in the locker room. Not a good look heading into Ann Arbor this weekend. But for all of us....please win. Don't let Harbaugh win...
3. Michigan (Previously #2)
Michigantook care of Penn State in Happy Valley, but drops just because of the rise of the Spartans. Ooh that's got to hurt. The Big Game is in Ann Arbor this year....can Harbaugh and his band of merry men get it done?
4. Penn State (Previously #4)
Played Michigan tough, just couldn't get it done. No shame in that. Gets even harder this week with the Land Grant Trophy on the line in East Lansing.
5. Indiana (Previous #5)
The Hoosiers finally won a Big Ten Game! Sorry Maryland. Can Indiana beat Purdue to get the Old Oaken Bucket and a Bowl game??
6. Rutgers (Previously #7)
Rutgers beat Army....so yay? Get to finish it out with the embarrassment bowl against Maryland Saturday.
7. Maryland (previous #6)
The Terps lost to Indiana and things are bleak. Can they at least get Kyle Flood fired?
Big Ten West
1. Iowa (Previously #1)
Purdue. Dead. Only a trip to Lincoln is between Iowa and the completion of the regular season portion of the #specialseason. Save us all Ghosts of Tommy Frasier and Mike Rozier.
2. Northwestern (Previously #3)
Northwestern gets the win with the help of seven extra players. That was.....shady, and we all know my disdane for the Badgers. They try and ruin Illinois' dream Saturday at Wrigley Field.
3.Wisconsin (Previously #2)
The Badgers "lost" to Northwestern, but their offense was awful. The defense though....pretty damn good. Hopefully they take a week off on Saturday.
4. Minnesota (Previously #4)
The Gophers got one hurdle overcome with a big win over the Illini. But there is a bigger game on the horizon. Please...for all of us....we're begging. #WINTHATAXE
5. Nebraska (Previously #5)
Nebraska hopefully used all of its bye week to make sure it can ruin #specialseason on Friday and make a bowl game.
6. Illinois (previously #6)
The Illini played the Gophers tough, but just not tough enough. Now a "home" game at Wrigley Field to try and make a bowl game against Northwestern.
7. Purdue (previously #6)
Purdue couldn't do what any other Big Ten Team could do this season....so now they try and ruin Indiana's season instead on Saturday.
In case you are a pre-divisions purist, and want to see how teams stack up overall, here is my overall Top 14:
1. Iowa (Previously #2)
2. Michigan State (#3)
3. Ohio State (#1)
4. Michigan (#4)
5. Northwestern (#6)
6. Wisconsin (#5)
7. Penn State (#7)
8. Minnesota (#9)
9. Indiana (#8)
10. Nebraska (#10)
11. Illinois (#9)
12. Purdue (# 12)
13. Rutgers (#14)
14. Maryland (#13)
MSU moves up, but Iowa gets the top spot until they see if they get Huskered in Lincoln as well. Michigan and OSU will play for the #3 spot this week, unless Iowa loses and then the winner probably gets #2. The Gophers will also look to move up with an Axe win....hopefully.
Let us know if you think I'm way off...or if you agree-
