3 Keys, 2 Players to Watch, 1 Prediction

Maroon_key_medium Must Get a Good Game From Leidner - I wrote this last year as well but it is pretty important. Bad Mitch will make it awfully hard for the Gophers to overcome. The Minnesota defense is solid but has not been as stout as it was a year ago. And the running game is getting better, though not something we can lean on yet.

Maroon_key_medium Pressure Stave - Get pressure on the quarterback. Once they figured out how to do this against Michigan, they started having success. And Stave hasn't particularly been successful against pressure this year. Maybe we have to blitz and hope our corners can man up, Whatever it takes to get pressure without opening up huge lanes for Stave to run. But get pressure, bring him down and get a couple pics. Easy right?

Maroon_key_medium Might Take a Defensive or Special Teams TD - Our offense doesn't exactly light the world on fire and the Badger D is awfully good. Their offense is not special and lost Clement so our defense should be able to hold them in check. It might take a non-offensive touchdown or at least a big win in field position to sneak this one out.

OPPOSING PLAYERS TO WATCH

  • #2 - QB - Joel Stave - Bad Stave will kill Wisconsin about as much as bad Mitch will kill us. No great receivers and no Clement so it is on the Badger OL and Stave.
  • #58 - LB - Jo Schobert - F Him. I hate him. Is anybody reading? Just wondering.

PREDICTION

I'll predict a win. This is going to be a season salvaging and distinctive win. Coach Kill never got The Axe, but conditions are ripe for the Gophers to nab it today. The only question that remains is which celebratory bourbon to drink tonight.

Minnesota - 21
Wisconsin - 20
