As a member of the "working media" we get requests to help out other "media" in their articles and pursuits. Then sometimes we get to steal their ideas and content for our own gain. Thus, we bring you the Big Ten Power Poll!
I am a voting member in two power polls this season on other websites. If you want to compare my votes to other "writers" from around the Big Ten, I'm sure they would love a click as well. Check out the Rutgers Blog www.SalSoothsayer and another blog covering the whole conference, www.talking10.com With out any further delay, I bring you the Week 9 Version, of the Big Ten Power Poll.
Big Ten East
1. Ohio State (Previously #1)
Ohio State kind of lost to Bye in losing JT Barrett for the Gopher game after he got caught driving drunk. But...it probably won't matter too much
2. Michigan State (Previously #2)
Bye. No one pushing them. Yawn. Can a trip to Lincoln be a trap game this year?
3. Michigan (Previously #3)
Came thisclose to losing the Jug. Sigh. Rutgers comes to the Big House....easy win.
4. Penn State (Previously #4)
39-0 over Illinois. Daaaamn. Big game in Evanston this Saturday.
5. Indiana (Previous #6)
Bye week gets you moved up a slot when the teams above you suck. Can indiana find the magic again with Iowa coming to town?
6. Maryland (Previously #7)
Maryland showed up against Iowa... now can they do better against the Badgers then Rutgers did.
7. Rutgers (previous #5)
Woof. Wisconsin just destroyed you. Enjoy getting killed at Michigan this week.
Big Ten West
1. Iowa (Previously #1)
Maryland gave them a game, but still #specialseason in full glory. Arguably Iowa's toughest game left this week at Indiana if the right Hoosiers show up.
2. Wisconsin (Previously #2)
Killed Rutgers. The path through the joke of a cross-over schedule continues at Maryland this week.
3.Northwestern (Previously #3)
Bye week...and noone even close to nipping at their heels. Penn State will be a challenge this week.
4. Minnesota (Previously #6)
The Gophers should have won....and the team behind them did very bad things. Good luck this week....it probably won't be pretty.
5. Illinois (Previously #5)
Seriously....39-0 against the Nittany Lions. Can you please play like that against the Gophers in a few weeks. At Purdue in the battle of meh this week.
6. Purdue (previously #7)
That was impressive Boilers....enjoy Darryl's last hurrah with a chance at back to back wins.
7. Nebraska (previously #4)
Oh Huskers. Seriously...where the hell was that at TCF. Watch you almost beat MSU this week now...
In case you are a pre-divisions purist, and want to see how teams stack up overall, here is my overall Top 14:
1. Ohio State (Previously #1)
2. Michigan State (#2)
3. Iowa (#4)
4. Michigan (#3)
5. Wisconsin (#5)
6. Northwestern (#6)
7. Penn State (#7)
8. Minnesota (#10)
9. Illinois (#9)
10. Indiana (#12)
11. Purdue (#14)
12. Nebraska (#8)
13. Maryland (#13)
14. Rutgers (#11)
Lots of teams moving up due to how badly the teams behind them did....but someone has to fill those last few single digit spots. PSU at Northwestern and Iowa at Indiana could be fun this week...but we should see a few blowouts too.
