3 Keys, 2 Players to Watch, 1 Prediction
Strength on Strength - The Chips are a very strong passing attack. In terms of raw yardage, they ranked #2 in the MAC and if you look at advanced stats they were the 36th most dangerous passing attack in the country. Cooper Rush was 2nd team All-MAC and is a very talented passing quarterback. The good news? We have a pretty good secondary led by 3 seniors who may all be playing on Sundays next year (2 are likely). Need to generate some pressure on Rush and allow our secondary to make some plays.
Own The Line of Scrimmage - That goes for both sides of the ball. Defensively our defensive line might be the healthiest it has been in a very long time, having a month off will do that. They need to control the line of scrimmage and get pressure on Rush often. That will help our secondary out tremendously and lead to turnovers. Maybe it takes some well-timed blitzes, but get pressure on the QB. On offense? I've been waiting to see them control the opponent's front and open up wide lanes to run the ball through.
Establish the Ground Game - I would love to see our offense just lean on the Chips and run...run...run and run some more. Lets let the Georgia Backs combine for a couple hundred yards and a few TDs.
OPPOSING PLAYERS TO WATCH
- #10 - QB - Cooper Rush - He is the key here. Yes, they have a couple receivers that could burn us but it all comes down to Rush. Get to him...make his feet all jumpy...make plays when we have the chance.
- #5 - S - Kavon Frazier - Safety who is very active in the tackling department.
PREDICTION
I'm always confident in a win. A month to prep and most importantly get healthy. I'd love to see Claeys furthering his stamp on this team and see a little preview of what is to come next year. Lean on the Chips, control the line of scrimmage and come away with a bowl win. Lets go out with a win for the seniors.
Minnesota - 27
Central Michigan - 17
