It's a big weekend for both Minnesota Gophers hockey programs this weekend. For the men, it's a chance to make up a lot of ground against Big Ten leader Michigan. The Wolverines currently lead the Gophers 6 points, which means the Gophers could overtake Michigan in the B1G standings with a sweep or move into a tie with a win and a tie/shootout victory. The Gophers also have a chance to continue to climb the in the Pairwise, as Michigan is ranked 12th (two spots higher than Minnesota).
For the women, it's a chance to take over the #1 ranking in the college hockey polls and solidify their case for the #1 overall seed in the NCAA tournament. The UMD Bulldogs are dealing with the controversy of their coaching situation, but are fighting hard for a spot in the NCAA tournament. It should be another great series at Ridder!
