Amanda Zahui B is having a pretty good couple of days.  On Monday she was named the ESPN W National Player of the Week for the second time this season.  On Tuesday she was named the Big Ten Player of the Week for the fourth time this season, and was also one of five players added to the Wade Watch List.  The Wade Trophy Coalition presents The Wade Trophy to the nation’s most outstanding NCAA® Division I women’s basketball player each year – one who not only excels athletically, but also serves as a positive role model both on and off the court. The wade Watch list consists of the 25 player preseason list (including injured Gopher guard Rachael Banham) and the five additions.  The list will be cut to 12 finalists in Mid-March, and the winner will be announced at the Women's Final Four in April.

Zahui B is getting rewarded for her amazing performance  last week where she had 39 points and 29 rebounds in a win over #13 Iowa, and then followed that up with 27 points and 27 rebounds in a double overtime win over Michigan.  She also added nine blocked shots in thew two games, breaking her Gopher single-season record of 105 set last season.  She currently has 109 on the year, with two regular season games and the postseason to go.

Zahui B and the Gophers will finish the regular season with two tough road games against ranked opponents when they travel to #23 Nebraska on Tuesday night before finishing at #16 Iowa who will most definitely be out for revenge for what Zahui B did to them last week.  The two games will be key for seeding purposes in the Big Ten Tournament which will take place March 5-8 in Hoffman Estates, Illinois.  The Gophers are currently in a four way tie for third place in the Big Ten at 11-5 with Northwestern, Rutgers, and Ohio State.  The Gophers could end up seeded anywhere from second to sixth depending o the results of this week's games.

Good luck to Zahui B and the Gophers as we come down the home stretch of the season!
