The Gopher Hockey teams have two huge games today. The Gopher Women host RIT in an NCAA Quarterfinal at 4:00 at Ridder Arena, while the Gopher Men will try and win a second consecutive Big Ten Regular Season Championship with a win over Penn State.
The Gopher women will be looking to make their fourth consecutive NCAA Frozen Four which will be held in front of their own fans at Ridder Arena next weekend. The Gophers are the #1 overall seed, and should have a fairly significant advantage against #8 RIT today, but its March and you never know what can happen.
The Gopher men are tied with Michigan on top of the Big Ten. If the Gophers beat Penn State tonight, they will at bare minimum share the Big Ten Regular Season Championship, and will have a first round bye in next week's Big Ten Tournament. The Gophers can win the crown outright, but will need some help from Michigan State. The Spartans and Wolverines play at 4:00 in Ann Arbor, so the Gophers will know what they will need to do before they begin their game. Its also Senior Night for the Gophers as they will honor six seniors, Kyle Rau, Seth Ambroz, Sam Warning,Travis Boyd, Ben Marshall, and Christian Isackson.
Lets hope its a good day in the State of Hockey!
