The annual Gopher Football Pro Day will take place this morning beginning at 8 AM at the Gibson-Nagurski Football Complex.  Fifteen former Gophers will be taking part in the annual event along with some other local players from smaller schools around the metro area.  The players will be run through the paces just like the three Gophers, Maxx Williams, David Cobb, and Damien Wilson, who were invited to the NFL Combine were.

Unfortunately, this will not include the former Gopher star running back.  Cobb strained a quad during his first attempt at the 40-yard dash at the combine in Indianapolis, and still has not recovered enough to participate today.   According to Cobb's father in an e-mail to the Pioneer Press, Cobb is expected to perform at an individual workout day at some point in April.  However, he will be in person at Pro Day to encourage and cheer on his former teammates.

All of the players will run the 40-yard dash, and will perform other agility drills such as the long jump, broad jump, vertical leap, cone shuttle drills, etc.  The players will also do position specific drills such as blocking, pass catching, and pass defending.

The list of Gophers besides Williams and Wilson who will be participating includes:  Michael Amaefula, Cameron Botticelli, Zac Epping, Isaac Fruechte, Logan Hutton, Marcus Jones, Donnell Kirkwood, Harold Legania, Ben Perry, Cedric Thompson, Derrick Wells, and Devon Wright. Also participating will be former Gopher wide receiver Derrick Engel who was injured and could not participate in the 2014 Pro Day.

The Gopher Pro Day is not open to the public, only scouts and media.  However, if you are looking for a good fix of content from Pro Day, make sure to follow Gopher Gridiron on twitter as they will be providing coverage all day long!

Good luck to all the former Gophers participating!
