Damien Wilson was selected by the Dallas Cowboys in the Fourth round of the NFL Draft on Saturday. The Cowboys selected Wilson with the 127th th overall pick.   Wilson becomes the 22nd Gopher linebacker to be selected in the NFL Draft, but just the first since Nate Triplett was selected by the Minnesota Vikings in the fifth round in 2010.

Wilson heads to the NFL after a fantastic senior season for the Gophers. He led the Gophers with 119 tackles and 10.5 tackles for loss in 2014.  Wilson was named an all B1G first team selection by the media and a second team selection by the coaches , and was named the Gophers Defensive Player of the Year.

He joins a Dallas defense that should immediately give Wilson a chance to compete on special teams from day one, and hopefully try and earn some paying time on defense.  Wilson going in the end of the 4th round is a shocker, not expected at all, but the Cowboys are a very good team and Wilson could see him on a potential Super Bowl contender immediately.

Wilson joins  Maxx Williams so far being drafted this weekend.  Williams was selected in the second round Friday night by the Baltimore Ravens.  Wilson can hold it over his cousin, David Cobb's head that he was drafted before Cobb was, which was very unexpected.

Congrats Damien from the entire The Daily Gopher Team!
