ESPN has had a number of articles recently about the upcoming football season and some higher expectations for your Golden Gophers (despite what Vegas may think). But I'll start with this.
Tracy Claeys...he wants The Axe too."Obviously we're excited about where we've been," said Claeys, the team's defensive coordinator and associate head coach. "Last year we accomplished some things that hadn't been done in over 40 years. At the same time, we all agree, we think we can do better.
"I know one thing: me personally, I'm not going to relax until that that Axe comes back."
I think I speak for us all when I say, "Hell YEAH!"
- Brick by Brick we Jerry Kill is building this program with recruiting. A nice acknowledgement that we have a pretty good recruiting class coming together.
- And here they look at who are really the Big Ten West Division favorites. Could it be our year?
- Glen Mason is getting bumped down from BTN's top broadcast team? Interesting.
- Transitioning from football to basketball...Maize n Brew looks at the nation's top FB/BB coaching tandems. No, the Gophers are not on this list but it is still interesting.
- Jeff Goodman of ESPN Insider looks at all of the college basketball programs taking a summer international trip.
- Big Ten Powerhouse tells us the future is bright for Gopher basketball.
- RECRUITING...Gary Trent Jr is going to be one of (if not THE) state's top juniors and will be getting attention from all of the major programs around the country.
- This is a few days old but gives a good preview to the EYBL Minneapolis event with some recruiting nuggets, including wondering if Gary Trent Jr will end up the EYBL's top scorer.
- The Gophers are going awfully hard after Shamorie Ponds, a 4-star point out of New York.
