What will you be doing 50 days from now? I will be getting set up in the TCF Bank Stadium press box and eagerly anticipating kickoff to the 2015 Gopher Football season. TCU will certainly be a top five ranked team coming up to Minnesota for one of the best matchups of week one.
Jack Lynn wears #50 for the Golden Gophers and do you know what he will be doing in 50 days? He will be lining up as a starting OLB for what promises to be an outstanding Gopher defense. Lynn is a redshirt junior who started seven games as a sophomore. I remember really liking this commitment in the 2012 recruiting class. Lynn was his conference Defensive Player of the Year, was first team All-State and helped lead his Lake Zurich team to the state title game in Illinois. I wrote this as part of the 2012 class recruiting roundup.
That second link (no longer an active link) really gives you the sense that this is a good kid who works hard and will be a great teammate. That isn't supposed to be code for a nice kid who won't ever play, I fully expect that after a year or two he will be on the field for the Gophers. He is a smart kid who will need a redshirt year to add strength. But he will be a contributor for the Gopher defense over his career, I'm sure of that.
He finished last season 6th on the team in tackles, 3rd in tackles for loss, broke up two passes, recorded a sack and had one fumble recovery (in the Iowa win). With the loss of Damien Wilson and the uncertainty of what you will get from De'Vondre Campbell, Jack Lynn is a critical piece of the front-seven and I expect will be a key leader on the Gopher defense.
Just 50 days my friends. That may seem like a lot but it will fly by. What will you be doing 50 days from now?
