35 days, which is exactly 5 weeks from the kickoff to the 2015 season. Rodrick Williams Jr. (aka Nugget) is ready to go and just may end up being your lead tailback for the season.
Williams hails from Lewisville, TX and was a Farmer (not like a real farmer but that was his high school's mascot...no really it was). With no scholarship juniors on the roster and Williams being the only senior he is the elder statesman of the running backs and the favorite to start the year atop the depth chart. He has participated in 31 games through his first three seasons as a Golden Gopher and has 707 yards and 8 touchdowns over his career.
Much of last season was spent spelling David Cobb in certain situations and he would often times catch defenses off guard. His lone carry in the Cirtus Bowl was a 20 yard burst for a touchdown to give his team the early 7-0 lead. The offseason buzz is that Nugget has dropped a little weight to improve his quickness and his overall experience makes him the favorite to be your starting tailback five weeks from tonight.
The running back competition and seeing who is going to emerge is one of the big questions marks and really one of the things I am most looking forward to watching this season.
