Minnesota Football: Mitch Leidner, Quarterback Competition, Practice Facilities Update

Yup...just one week till we kick off the season hosting #2 TCU Horned Frogs at TCF Bank Stadium.  #7 belongs to our starting quarterback, Mitch Leidner.  The junior has a 10-6 record in 16 career starts and is the unquestioned starter for a Gopher team that many believe will go as far as this quarterback can take them.

• Leidner hopes to erase memories of his poor performance at TCU a year ago.  How about getting a win over #2 TCU?
• ESPN Blog ranks the Gopher quarterback situation as 7th best in the Big Ten.
• Behind Leidner it appears as though Chris Streveler is getting more and more time at WR, meaning the backup job is coming down to a true freshman or a walk-on redshirt freshman.  Going to be pretty interesting if Leidner were to miss any time this season.
• Pioneer Press has a feature on Gopher Athletics planning to break ground on their new facilities in late Fall.
• Bloggin' Scoggins has a couple good posts up on his new Star Tribune blog.
• The biggest remaining local recruit is Tyler Johnson and he is visiting campus today.  Could he commit to Jerry Kill and continue the excitement around this year's #Empire class?
