Finally, it's time to see volleyball in person!
When you finally get to kick off your home season tonight... @GopherVBall pic.twitter.com/bTppqqAyvk— Minnesota Gophers (@GopherSports) September 11, 2015
The #28 Minnesota Golden Gophers (2-2) kick off their home season tonight at the Sports Pavilion in game #2 of the Diet Coke Classic. Joining Minnesota in this tournament is the University of Central Florida 'Knights', North Dakota State University 'Bison' , & UC Irvine. Click on the links above to take a look at the tournament from those schools point of view.
I believe if you buy a ticket it is good for all of the games that day (if you don't leave the Pav).
If you do go to the games, keep in mind the nearby event 'Open Streets Minneapolis' which will be impacting traffic on Saturday (should be fine for Saturday 7 pm game).
#Gophers- please plan ahead for Sat. as U of M participates in Open Streets Minneapolis! http://t.co/UCcWTD5Rvj pic.twitter.com/BgS2pXH7cV— Minnesota Volleyball (@GopherVBall) September 10, 2015
The Season So Far
A Tough Start
This is week three for the Gophers, with the first two weeks being on the road. The first weekend the Gophers fought hard but were outmatched by two good teams in the Stanford Invite, going 0-2.
Minnesota's loss to Texas A&M to open the season was a hard one as they won sets 2 & 3. Read the Gophersports.com recap here.
The Gopher's had a tough match in this game as Stanford was the #2 team in the country. Gophers lost in 3 straight sets but kept it close in the 2nd set losing 23-25. Read the Gophersports.com recap here.
A Bounce Back
After playing the big girls in the Stanford Invite and a quick break at the Minnesota State Fair, the Gophers traveled to Louisville Kentucky for the ACC/Big Ten Challenge.
The Louisville Cardinals played the Gophers tough last year and did so again this year. Thankfully the Gophers had Daly Santana.
.@dsantana_01 was absolute tonight for @GopherVBall. Last time #Gophers had 39 kills in a match was 1999. #SkiUMah pic.twitter.com/7nQBkRlgCH— Minnesota Gophers (@GopherSports) September 5, 2015
Daly's performance gave the Gopher's the victory (Gophersports.com recap here) and herself the Minnesota Athlete of the Week honors.

The Gophers were not finished as the next day they took on the #18 University of North Carolina.
Minnesota won big winning in straight sets (25-23, 25-22, 25-18). Many Gophers had great peformances including Hannah Tapp, Daly Santana, Alyssa Goehner, and Dalianliz Rosado. Read the full Gophersports.com recap here.
For their great play last weekend, two players were named to their first ever Big Ten weekly awards.
