Every week during the NFL Season we will recap how the former Gopher football players who are now in the NFL did each week for their respective teams.  This week we start off with a preseason recap and catch you up on who is playing where.  First we have the players who were on NFL rosters in 2014:

Eric Decker- Wide Receiver New York Jets

Week 1 Opponent: Cleveland Browns

Decker got off to a good start as he had two catches for 37 yards...one of which went for a touchdown in the Jets win over Cleveland.

Week 2 Opponent: Indianapolis Colts

The Jets head to Indy for a Monday night tilt against the Colts.

MarQueis Gray- Tight End Buffalo Bills

Week 1 Opponent: Indianapolis Colts

Gray did not record any stats in the Bills win over the Colts.

Week 2 Opponent: New England Patriots

The Pats head to Buffalo for a big early season AFC East clash.

Ra'Shede Hageman- Defensive Tackle Atlanta Falcons

Week 1 Opponent: Philadelphia Eagles

Officially Hageman recorded one hit on the quarterback but no tackles in the Falcons win over the Eagles on Monday night.  However in watching the game, I remember at least one tackle....so....not sure there.

Week 2 Opponent: New York Giants

The Falcons will head up to NYC to play the Giants.

Marcus Sherels- Cornerback/ Punt Returner Minnesota Vikings

Week 1 Opponent: San Francisco 49ers

Sherels had two punt returns for nine yards. He didn't record any defensive stats.  Yuck.

Week 2 Opponent: Detroit Lions

The Vikings will play their first game at TCF next Sunday against the Lions.

Matt Spaeth- Tight End Pittsburgh Steelers

Week 1 Opponent: New England Patriots

Spaeth did not record any stats in the Steelers opener to the Patriots.

Week 1 Opponent: San Francisco 49ers

The Steelers get to come home and play the 49ers on Sunday.

Brock Vereen- Safety Chicago Bears

Week 1 Opponent: Green Bay Packers

Vereen did not record any stats in the Bears loss to the Packers.

Week 2 Opponent: Arizona Cardinals

The Bears get to remain home for a second week as the Cardinals come to town.

Tramaine Brock- Cornerback San Francisco 49ers

Week 1 Opponent: Minnesota Vikings

Brock had the best game of any of the former Gophers in recording two tackles, breaking up two passes, and picking off Teddy Bridgewater for a 26 yard return in the 49ers win over the Vikings.

Week 2 Opponent: Pittsburgh Steelers

The 49ers must travel across the country to take on the Steelers in an early Sunday game.

Maxx Williams - Tight End Baltimore Ravens

Week 1 Opponent: Denver Broncos

Maxx caught his first official NFL pass for a 15 yard gain, but that was it for the tight end.

Week 2 Opponent: Oakland Raiders

The Ravens stay out west and will take a trip to Oakland on Sunday.

Damien Wilson- Linebacker Dallas Cowboys

Week 1 Opponent: New York Giants

Wilson did not record any stats for the Cowboys on Sunday night.

Week 1 Opponent: Philadelphia Eagles

The Cowboys will head to Philly with a chance to make the Eagles 0-2.

As you can see...some players had decent weeks, but a lot more had very quiet weeks.  Lets hope Week 2 is a bit more exciting for the former Gophers.
