Big Ten Power Poll—Week 6

Don’t give Harbaugh an opportunity to one up Urban..

After the fifth week of college football, it sure looks like the Big Ten is falling back into the trap of the Big Two and Little 12. Eh. Here’s how I rank the Big Ten teams after five weeks of play.

Big Ten East

#1 Ohio State Buckeyes (LW #1)

38-17 over what appears to be a decent Indiana team. Not bad. Huge game at Camp Randall this weekend. Hopefully they take care of business.

#2 Michigan Wolverines (LW#3)

78-0. 78 to freaking 0. I said that I thought Harbaugh would try to one up Ohio State...but that....oof. They scored so many times they can win their bye week this week by 4 tds.

#3 Indiana Hoosiers (LW #3)

Indiana had a tough task this week and while they lost, it wasn’t embarrassing. The rest of the east....oof. Nebraska comes to town this week in another tough battle.

#4 Penn State Nittany Lions (LW #6)

PSU took previously unbeaten Maryland out to the woodshed. They aren’t good, but they aren’t terrible either. Bye this week.

#5 Maryland Terrapins (LW #5)

Look what happens when you play even an ok team. If Mitch was playing this week would be really interesting. It still could be.

#6 Michigan State Spartans (LW #4)

Sparty Oh Nononononononono. Getting wiped off your home field by BYU is not good. Having a three way battle for your starting qb is not good. Having your marquis win over Notre Dame look less and less impressive every week is not good. Sparty is....not good. Northwestern comes to town and frankly should be the favorite.

#7 Rutgers Scarlet Knights (LW #7)

Rutgers got whacked so bad, the AAC doesn’t even want them back. Can Lovie keep the ugliness going this week against the Knights?

Big Ten West

#1 Nebraska Cornhuskers (LW #1)

Bye means you stay. They go to Indiana this week in what should be a fairly winnable game.

#2 Wisconsin Badgers (LW #2)

Bye week last week getting ready to host Ohio State and Gameday. I think this one might get ugly for Wisconsin.

#3 Northwestern Wildcats (LW #3)

Bye week, and Iowa didn’t do nearly enough to jump them. They go into East Lansing in what appears to be a VERY winnable game.

#4 Iowa Hawkeyes (LW #4)

They keep Floyd for another year, but that might be it for Iowa. They are not good right now. They get their best rival Purdue this week in what has to be a must win for Kirk. But the harbor always lurks.

#5 Minnesota Gophers (LW # 5)

Another very disappointing loss. Maybe they can get back on track this week...but with the injuries I don’t really see it being very likely.

#6 Purdue Boilermakers (LW #7)

Well...Purdue has more big ten wins this season than Minnesota. That’s not good. Iowa looks to make sure that number doesn’t change this week.

#7 Illinois Fighting Illini (LW #6)

Love may have just let Hazell keep his job. If they can;t blow out Rutgers this weekend...well Lovie might get on the hot seat asap.

My Rank 1-14
