The important thing to note about this game is that Lafayette has one of my favorite nicknames in all of college basketball. Also worth noting, I guess, is that they were a 19-win team a year ago and

Keys to a Gopher Win (yes, I realize the futile-ness of this exercise)

Even the most pessimistic among us should be confident in this game. UL-Lafayette had a solid season last year but return only three major contributors. I have no idea how they'll fare in the Sun Belt, but the Gophers should win this one. And here's how.

Maroon_key_medium Take Care of the Ball - Take care of the ball and get good shots on office. I have confidence that turnovers will not be a problem for this team. But in game one, against a team you aren't going to be all that familiar with, take care of the ball and give yourself a chance on every possession.

Maroon_key_mediumRebound - I like our situation in the post so much more than I did a year ago. Adding Lynch and Curry are going to go a long way in terms of defense and rebounding. The Rajin Cajuns are not all that big and I'd love to see us absolutely dominate the glass tonight.

Prediction: Minnesota works out some kinks, the angry Canjuns turn the ball over and we end up pulling away to win by 16.
