Big Ten Power Poll—Week 11

Remember how we thought we had this all figured out....

Michigan v Iowa
Iowa....really Wolverines?

After Week 10 we thought we were starting to see how things well break down. Oops. Week 11 threw things a bit in chaos. Here is how I rank the teams after Week 11.

Big Ten East

#1 Ohio State Buckeyes (LW #2)

The Buckeyes move back into the top spot. They have won their last two games by identical 62-3 scores. Good luck with that Sparty.

#2 Michigan Wolverines (LW#1)

Really Harbaugh? Iowa? Come on. That loss could be the one that keeps them out of the playoff. Or they might still get in. I don’t think anyone really has any idea what might happen yet. Though I think Indiana is about to get smoked this week.

#3 Penn State Nittany Lions (LW #3)

Penn State arguably could be moved up, but then you remember they lost 49-10 earlier this season to Michigan. Yet, Penn State looks like barring something incredibly stupid that they will be the East’s representative to the Big Ten Title Game. I don’t think that incredibly stupid thing happens this week, because if PSU loses to Rutgers at this point....

#4 Indiana Hoosiers (LW #4)

Indiana played Penn State tough for a bit. Yeah...that’s about it. They get a pissed off Michigan team this week. Sucks to be the Hoosiers. Will need to beat Purdue in the last game to go bowling.

#5 Michigan State Spartans (LW #6)

Yes I know Maryland beat them, but the bottom of the east is just hot hot garbage. They decided some humiliations were just too much and took out Rutgers 49-0. I don’t blame them. Something tells me Ohio State will bring them back to reality really fast on Saturday.

#6 Maryland Terrapins (LW #5)

The worst 5-5 team in America? I’ll believe it. Somehow this team can go bowling with a win at Nebraska Saturday....but more likely over Rutgers next week.

#7 Rutgers Scarlet Knights (LW #7)

Yeah....its probably good if you give up on football for a little while.

Big Ten West

#1 Wisconsin Badgers (LW #1)

The Badgers easily take out Illinois to remain on top. Is the harbor docked in West Lafayette this weekend? Guessing its way out to sea by now.

#2 Nebraska Cornhuskers (LW #2)

Nebraska beat Minnesota in a game that almost could have gone the other way. They looked a like a much stronger team a few weeks ago, but still stays in the #2 slot for now. They should be able to beat Maryland...even with Ryker Fyfe at QB if needed.

#3 Iowa Hawkeyes (LW #5)

Congrats Iowa....your #specialseason may have gone down the crapper, but you will have #onespecialnight With winnable games at Illinois and then Nebraska in Iowa City for Black Friday...#teamchaos could be the Hawkeyes. #hashtags

#4 Northwestern Wildcats (LW #3)

Purdue kept the game close for a half again against the Wildcats...and then Northwestern remembered they were playing Purdue. Its a toss up on Saturday, but today NW gets the edge for looking like the stronger team over the last few weeks.

#5 Minnesota Gophers (LW # 4)

It seems like a season of what ifs for the Gophers. They let another seemingly winnable game slip away Saturday, and now really almost have a must win against Northwestern to keep the fans interested. It shall be interesting, especially with the weather. At least we can count on a Justin Jackson vs Rodney Smith competition to see who wins the 2nd First Team All-Big Ten RB slot.

#6 Illinois Fighting Illini (LW #6)

The Illini are...not good. Can they be a trap game for Iowa? Doubtful.

#7 Purdue Boilermakers (LW #6)

But Purdue is worse....at least in the 2nd half of games. Can they set up the harbor on Wisconsin? I’m pretty sure the Badgers are about to go all Tora Tora Tora on the Boilermakers...

My Rank 1-14

  1. Ohio State Buckeyes (LW #2)
  2. Michigan Wolverines (LW #2)
  3. Wisconsin Badgers (LW #3)
