3 Keys, 2 Players to Watch, 1 Prediction

Maroon_key_mediumContinue to Run it - During this quarter of the schedule, against the bottom portion of the Big Ten, we've been successful running the ball. This needs to continue today as Purdue is worse in their run defense. Certainly they will be keying on the Gopher ground game, forcing the Gophers to beat them through the air. But that's what everyone tries, I'm not too concerned that they'll be good enough to stop us on the ground. But make it happen.

Maroon_key_medium Get Interceptions - If Purdue's QB is having a good day, they can stay in this game through the air. They have the #1 passing offense (measured by yardage) in the Big Ten and that's how'll theyll attempt to move the ball. Forcing a pick or two will go a long way towards getting ahead of them early and making them further one-dimensional.

Maroon_key_medium Third Downs - Please win on third downs. Both sides of the ball. Simple enough right?

OPPOSING PLAYERS TO WATCH

  • #11 - QB - David Blough - Big Ten's leading passer and dangerous. If he is great, they'll be in this. If he struggles the Gophers win big.
  • #21 - LB - Markus Bailey - Team's leading tackler and I suspect he'll get quite a few again today. We will run and run and run.

PREDICTION

I like our defense when Hardin and Buford are back...and they are back playing at home today. I think the defense forces some turnovers and the Gopher running backs continue grind it out on the ground.

Minnesota - 31
Purdue - 20
