NCAA Bracket: South Region Predictions, Picks, Upsets

The South Regional. This year the South is being held just down the road from me in Louisville, KY at the KFC YUM! Center (which despite its horrible name, is a nice venue). Who is going to enjoy a trip to bourbon country? Before we get to my predictions and other TAKES, here's a look at this part of the bracket:

#1 Kansas Jayhawks vs. #16 Austin Peay Governors

#2 Villanova Wildcats vs. #15 UNC Asheville Bulldogs

#3 Miami Hurricanes vs. #14 Buffalo Bulls

#4 California Golden Bears vs. #13 Hawaii Rainbow Warriors

#5 Maryland Terrapins vs. #12 South Dakota State Jackrabbits

#6 Arizona Wildcats vs. #11 Vanderbilt/Wichita State

#7 Iowa Hawkeyes vs. #10 Temple Owls

#8 Colorado Buffalos vs. #9 Connecticut Huskies

Who wins the South Region?

I have to go with Kansas. I think they got a fairly soft draw overall and should be looking good.

Who got the best draw?

Wichita State, because despite all the controversy they actually made it into the First Four and have a chance to play themselves into a run.

Who got screwed?

Villanova, who really has to be upset that they can't play in Philly if they make it out of the first weekend.

Who was the surprise?

Also Wichita State, because I really thought they'd get left out.

Who wins the #5 vs. #12 matchup?

South Dakota State. Why? Because they beat the Gophers and thus are world beaters.

Who is the region's Upset Lock Of The Week Of The Century?

I'm going with Temple over Iowa. Temple HATES Iowa.
