Gopher freshman Goalie Eric Schierhorn was named the Big Ten Goalie of the Year, along with being named to the 1st Team All- Big Ten and Big Ten All-Freshman Team on Monday.  Additionally Hudson Fasching, Justin Kloos and Michael Brodzinski were named to the 2nd Team All-Big Ten.

Schierhorn leads the Big Ten with 19 wins (14 in Big Ten play) and a 2.67 goals against average in starting all thirty-five of the Gophers games. Schierhorn’s 19 wins rank first among NCAA freshmen and stand tied for eighth among all NCAA goaltenders while his three shutouts are tied for first in the Big Ten.

Justin Kloos earned his first Big Ten postseason award after leading the Gophers with a career-high 40 points (15 goals, 25 assists) this season. That was good enough for fifth overall in the Big Ten this season.  He is also the Gophers active-leading scorer with 104 points (44 goals, 60 assists) in 114 career games.

Hudson Fasching was named to the Big Ten Honorable Mention and All-Big Ten Freshman Team in 2014, and moves up to the All-Big Ten 2nd Team this season.  Fasching's 20 goals this season leads Minnesota and is third in the Big Ten, while ranking second on the team and sixth in the league with 38 points.Fasching has had a knack of coming through the in clutch this season as seven of his 20 goals have been game-winning tallies.

Michael Brodzinski is having an offensively breakout season for the Gophers with career-highs in points (20), goals (eight) and assists (12). He ranks tied for third in scoring among Big Ten defenseman, earning his first career conference accolade.

Jake Bischoff was named Big-Ten All Honorable Mention and also given the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award.  He has also set career highs this season with with 16 points (five goals, 11 assists).

The Gophers are back in action Friday night in the Big Ten Tournament.  The Gophers will need to defeat either Ohio State or Michigan State Friday, and then most likely Michigan Saturday to gain the Big Ten's  Automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament to continue their season.
